2021 Board Elections – Call for Candidates!

ASMP Baltimore is looking for candidates to join the Board! We are seeking candidates who want to help all the photographers in our community — to build relationships with one another and to grow our businesses together. ASMP Baltimore strives to uplift all members of our dynamic and ever-evolving industry!

Over the past few years, I have had the distinct pleasure of serving as your Vice President and Chapter President on the ASMP Baltimore Board. In August, I will be stepping down from that role. I am honored to have had the chance to serve and advocate for one of the most creative and inspiring photography communities I know! I encourage everyone interested and eligible to run for the upcoming election and I can’t wait to see what the new Board has in store for this great community. Thank you!

Instagram Takeover by Elena Volkova

Elena Volkova is the latest artist taking over the ASMP Baltimore account. Elena Volkova is a Ukrainian-born photographer, educator, and curator. Elena’s artistic work follows post-minimalist aesthetic and focuses on liminal space, bringing attention to the everyday overlooked moments

Volkova has received several recognitions and awards, including the Janis Meyer Traveling Fellowship, Hamiltonian Fellowship, Vermont Studio Fellowship, and Stevenson University Faculty Research Grant. Volkova has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, and has been part of the Art in Embassies program.

Elena has been a co-host of a photojournalism podcast, Ten Frames Per Second with J.M. Giordano and co-curated a history of photography exhibition at Maryland Center for History and Culture. Volkova resides in Baltimore, MD and teaches Photography at Stevenson University.

Instagram Takeover by J.M. Giordano

This week, our In The Loupe guest J.M. Giordano is doing an Instagram Takeover of the ASMP Baltimore account. Check his work out and hear from Joe on March 4th at our inaugural In The Loupe artist’s talk series.

Joe Giordano is an award-winning photojournalist based in Baltimore. He is the co-host of the photojournalism podcast, 10 Frames Per Second. His work has been featured on NPR, ProPublica, Al-Jazeera, GQ, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, and Discovery Channel Inc. His work is in the permanent collection at the Reginald Lewis Museum. His current show, “Shuttered”, is on view at the Baltimore Museum of Industry through Summer 2021.

His first book, published by Culture Crush Editions, is called “We Used To Live At Night” documenting 25 years of nightlife in Baltimore. His book can be pre-ordered here.

His focus on architecture, social landscapes, and analog photography help give his work a nostalgic and romantic feel.

Winter’s work has been featured in Baltimore Magazine, Google, Verizon, Budweiser, COACH, Walgreens, and UNIQLO.
